Possible autocross venue. Shenandoah speedway

Postby n33d4sp33d13 » Sun Apr 09, 2017 8:33 pm

Since im not on the board anymore im posting this here and the powers at be can persue this. I saw some pictures today of some friends who went to a drift events at Shenandoah speedway. The speedway itself looks big and the infield has little to no obstructions. From minor measurement the front straight looks to be almost 100 feet wide wall to wall. The infield is plenty wide to do a down and back and there is a huge opening from the infield to the actual track and banking in 2 separate spots. The banking is wide and then there is also flat area below the banking before you even get to the wall. I'd say it would be very easy to build a course on any of the above. The site is a little over 2 hours from my house and im in Boones Mill so it would be within the 2 hour mark for alot of members. Maybe 20 minutes further for any members south of verona. If the lot is as promising as it looks I certainly would rather drive 20 more minutes to go there. Im currently working on a getting a contact for the site. I've already talked to Brad Fischer about this. I know we have some events that might get moved or changed and there calender gets busy so we should look at this sooner rather than later.

I have a lot of friends that drift there as well so I can most likely get good contact info.

I like what I see. That dirt track looks like it could, ahem, pave the way for some potential rallycross.

Kevin can you work on getting a contact. I've been trying to get in touch with them with no luck so far.

That would be a motocross track. I don't think you will want to take a car through that...Unless you happen to own a trophy truck we don't know about

Add enough water to mud it up enough for some Subaru to hoon through it, maybe.
