Impact Racing products

Post by glenthompson »

Notification was recently sent to SCCA Drivers informing them of the action taken by SFI to decertify some products manufactured by Impact Racing, LLC. We’d like to provide your event teams with the following information:

From the SFI Press Release of April 21, 2010:

“1. Impact Racing has withdrawn its appeal of the decertifications of its products bearing SFI 3.2A, 3.3, 16.1, and 16.5 specifications manufactured in the years 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008. The decertifications of these products are now permanent.”

It is our responsibility to inform our drivers of the action SFI has taken and the driver’s responsibility to be compliant. Please post the attached Racing Memo prominently in Registration and Tech for the next couple of your events to ensure our drivers are aware of the decertification. For tech and steward personnel involved in safety inspections, please follow these instructions.

Tech activities should be conducted as usual. No special activities are needed to address the situation. If you are checking safety gear as part of your event tech plan or are involved in annual tech inspections, be aware of the following:
  • Gear bearing SFI 3.2A, 3.3, 16.1, and 16.5 labels that has Impact Racing noted as the manufacturer AND a date of 2009 or 2010 – Compliant
  • Gear bearing SFI 3.2A, 3.3, 16.1, and 16.5 labels Impact Racing noted as the manufacturer AND a date of 2008 or earlier – Non-Compliant
  • Gear bearing SFI 3.2A, 3.3, 16.1, and 16.5 labels Impact Racing noted as the manufacturer AND no date – Competitor needs to present a letter from Impact showing a manufacture date of 2009 or 1010 to be considered compliant
  • Gear that has no manufacturer noted – business as usual

A non-compliant finding should be treated as any other non-compliant ruling on a safety related item.

Any questions on this matter should be directed to the Club Racing office in Topeka.

Sincerely,
Terry
