SCCA World Challenge and Trans-Am at VIR

Post by tac911t »

The weekend of Sept 11/12 VIR will host SCCA World Challenge and Trans-Am. I don't have a schedule yet, but have asked for one, so there may be other groups.

If you are interested in working any in any capacity, check out the NCR website. http://www.ncrscca.com/workers.htm

VIR is providing workers for the event, and NCR has worked out a deal with VIR to add SCCA workers who wish to work. My understanding is that VIR will provide lunches, partys Friday and Saturday night, and free worker camping.

Hmm, if one has never worked corners but supposedly knows a bit about racing, would a decent corner assignment be in the cards?

Hypothetically speaking, of course....

I was able to work the 24 hours at Daytona with no real corner experience. You know the flags and you know what the driver's expect.

... And you know Eric (he is the SCCA Flag Chief for that weekend).

And there are no bad worker assignments at VIR for a PRO weekend. Even the boring stations for a club weekend are great. Try Turn 12 (middle of the back straight) during the Trans-Am race.

true that, have to see if I can wedge it in time-wise- doing some more work on the Protege before the SIC.

Who would I contact about trying to get a worker assignment where my 7 yr old daughter can help?

Also I am assuming they have showers and will let you tent camp?

Thanks,
Dan

VIR has very nice showers and restrooms. If you are working, there is worker camping in the south paddock, where there are restrooms and showers. Asphalt for campers, limited electrical connections, and some grassy areas for tents.

Contact Eric Danielsen (NCR Flag Chief) (eric at allstarimpressions dot biz) (PM me if you need his number) concerning possible worker assignments for your daughter. Being a SCCA Pro Weekend, and with VIR managing the workers, please do not be surprised if there are age restrictions.
