All-purpose utility trailer

I'm looking to purchase a good all-purpose utility trailer. I think an 8ft., single axle trailer will be perfect. Does anyone know a local place that I should check out? Or does anyone have a trailer they'd like to sale?

NH hardware has a number of trailers. Might be something that meets your need. I'm guessing you want something like mine - 4.5 x 8, 1,500 GVW, light enough to move around by hand. No, it's not for sale.

Make sure you get one with 12" wheels or larger.

I saw one on Northern Tools website - 5' x 8' 2000lb. GVW, 13in. wheels. I'm not sure if they have one in stock at the store on 419 in Salem. Might be worth a look. I'd rather not pay out the nose for shipping.

In addition to the larger tires, make sure the trailer has the high speed bearings.

It was pretty exciting watching a trailer wheel bearing/tire lock solid behind Glens Miata at 70 MPH a few years ago coming back from the Laurens divisional (and a nice bit of driving by Glen to keep the shiny side up).

Todd B & I were co-driving my Miata. It was his trailer. We limped our way to the next exit and found a place to leave the trailer. We were able to put the tires, tools, and misc items from the mini trailer into Tim's MR2 and Ryan's Acura.

Driving it wasn't too bad since it was pulling from behind. The tail did wag the dog some. It locked up briefly and pulled us to the side some, much like being passed by a big truck. We wondered what happened when it locked up solid. I let it slow down gently and pulled off onto the shoulder. We were albe to free it some so we could get to the next exit.

4x8, 12in. wheels, 2000lb. GVW.

$299. May have to check that out...
