SOLD : 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS Sedona Red 5-speed coupe

Post by CamaroFS34 »

SOLD!!

I'm selling my 2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS coupe. It's the not-so-common Sedona Red, a 2-door five-speed, with about 113,000 miles.

The car has brand new tires as of 3/21/2008 (nothing special, just some "performance all-season" Fuzions that were relatively cheap on Tirerack). I recently replaced the center differential bearings (February 2008), the battery and alternator (the weekend before Yule), and the clutch was done in November. Both front hubs and bearings were replaced in October. I also replaced both O2 sensors last fall, but I'm still getting an intermittent P0420 CEL (though it did stay off long enough that it passed Maryland emissions the first week of December). According to DPSTuning (who does most of the heavy work on the car), the cat code is a common problem on these cars.

I bought this car in March 2007, and it came with some parts already installed, including a Wilwood caliper upgrade (it takes WRX rotors), and I replaced the rotors and brake pads last October. It also has SPT shocks/springs, an SPT front strut bar, a rear strut tower bar (not sure of the make), stainless steel brake lines, an old-school JC Sports CAI and a cat-back exhaust.

It currently has an aftermarket stereo system (Sony Drive-S single CD, XM ready) with a amp and a sub in the trunk. I know nothing about stereos, but Justin Rest (my 2007 co-driver), who used to work in the industry, tells me that the amp is a good one (five channel Alpine), and the sub is an MTX.

I am looking for $7000, but will entertain other serious offers. No trades. I am willing to work out delivery options.

I'm located in central Maryland (Frederick), but I work in Gaithersburg (DC area), and I spent time in the Baltimore area (Arundel Mills) too. Any serious inquiries can be sent to kiirenza AT gmail DOT com, or you can call me at 240 409 6759. That's my cell, and since I teach, it will be off during the day, but you can leave a message.

Karen

Now that is a nice looking car!

You know I heard once from a seasoned BRR veteran that the main weak point of the 2.5RS is the non-existent rear swaybar. I can't remember exactly who said that, but at the time I believe she was busy with several other Camaro owners swapping radiator hoses in the staging area.

I feel your pain on the CEL. Mine comes on every third day or so, stays on for a day or two, and then goes off. Go figure.

Any complaints with the car, or was it just time to move on?

I was just repeating what was told to me by the first person to ever drive a 2.5RS at Nationals in GS. ;)

I like the car. I just need something that I can compete in, and this isn't it. I shouldn't have bought a used, modded car. There's no way I'd ever feel comfortable autocrossing it without knowing what may or may not have been done to it.

At this point though, I may just end up trading it in if I ever find something worth buying.

I just put new tires on it today. I will be in Blacksburg around noon on Monday to show the car to a potential buyer from Knoxville, so if anyone else wants to look at it while I'm in the area, let me know.

Sale was a no-go, so I put the car on eBay and Autotrader.com.
