Rising Prices

Post by mseal »

In consideration of the rising prices for almost everything, I was wondering how R comps store for a season? As a hedge against the every increasing cost of tires (about 10% since I bought the last set) I am consdering purchasing a "spare" set if they will store okay in the "proper" (garage) conditions . Any ideas?

Covered/sealed out of the sunlight and in mid 70 degree environment, something to that effect. I read that somewhere a while back.

So I suppose a basement would be perfect.

sealed plastic bags in a dark cool dry area is correct. THey still age but much slower, good for a season or two.Somewhere on tirerack or hoosiers site there are some additives to help when you store them. Common household stuff but I forget what it was.

Ozone and UV are the two worst items. Keep them away from electric motors and sun.

Unless you think they would go up by 50% or more, think I'd hold off until you really need them. There are recommended storage procedures (covered in this string quite well), but to me they ain't like wine.

I agee with Steve, the use of your money now vs money in tires sitting in the garage. What if a new compound becomes available, even if the cost goes up some?
