New Toy
I picked up a '94 Miata this weekend. Seems to be a strong running, solid car. Now it's time to build for next year. Does anyone know any"build" sites I can get some info from. I'm looking at eventually running CSP and I need to decide if I should go there right away with a completely unprepared car or try STS2 during the build process. Maybe somewhere down the road I can reincarnate John's SM2 car. The possibilities are nearly endless. Afterall it is red! Any of you SP guys and gals have any advice? Thanks.

Re: New Toy
If you can do springs ,sway bars , shocks , wheels and tires all this season, I'd say get you some 13x9's and 255's and play in CSP .

Re: New Toy
There was a tremendous miata site with a ton of information up until AOL shut down their "hometown" sites. I'm hoping it gets relocated soon.
If you do only get the suspension anthony mentioned- you could run sts2 OR csp with just swapping out wheels. There's definitely more local competition in STS2, but I'll be in csp next year
Some notes on what I plan to run on my car, but there is less of a 'standard setup' than you might think
750/450 F/R spring rates
Koni Race shocks
Racing beat tubular front bar
stock rear bar (maybe no rear bar depending on how the car is acting that day?)
13x9 Real Racing wheels
255/40/13 Hoosier A6
Delrin/Poly Control arm bushings (a mixture)
I'm in the middle of putting in the '99 motor and rear end...I should be starting it up today!
Did the car come with an LSD? If so you can't run STS2 anyway..
Enough ranting...any questions let me know

Re: New Toy
Thanks guys! Any source for inexpensive Real Racing Wheels? I'm flying blind here and I need to begin gathering pricing info too. Gotta go step by step as y'all know.

Re: New Toy
I was just going to order them off of their website http://www.realwheel.net/
They're an $800 set of wheels, and you need a touch of spacer to make them clear the brakes from what I've heard...
There are other options out there for wheels, especially if you want to run the 225/45/13 instead. Then, something as simple as a cheap set of rota RB 13x8s will do you just fine.
oh, and congrats on the car!

Re: New Toy
You thought you were fast in a green miata, now brace yourself driving the red one (those are the fast ones afterall )
You can come goof around in STS2 if and when you want to, but I'm guessing you'd have to buy a set of ST tires but you'll be wanting to buy some CSP slicks in the near future so that wouldn't really pan out.
Until you can get the 13" wheels, I'd use up what's left of those V710's on the 16's you have from the 01 Miata, throw on a set of $400 Ground Control Coilovers (or try the Ebay brands at $40) with some high rate springs. Most expensive thing might be the Konis you'll need to support the high CSP spring rates.

Re: New Toy
I really don't have too much to add, but check for PM. As for classing, STS2 would be cheapest/quickest route to go (plus the more competition the better), plus it's a natural progression (at least in my twisted mind) to go from STS2-CSP. I can't help much with a CSP setup, but I have plenty to add if you go STS2. I've actually been curious how my car would do with a set of 13's.....
Everyone knows red is the fast STS2 color around here.....

Re: New Toy
Just watch out for the loose cannon in STS2 next year with the flashy new Red Rota RB's, I hear he's finally going to stock up on parts and get rid of excuses
Have fun with the car whatever you do!

Re: New Toy
I too would like to score a set of Rota RBs and play in FSP (hopefully). I miss the acceleration from the 13x8 Diamonds I used to have.
