1990 Miata w/ 1.8 swap

Post by Scott »

If you 've autocrossed in the region any time since 2005, you've seen the car. Since I have had the car it has been repainted and garaged/covered since the day I purchased it. For the last several years it has been trailed to events, and it hasn't been driven in the rain unless it started while at an event. Listed below are the modifications done, I'm sure I am missing something and I am happy to answer any questions about the car. Car is set up to run in CSP or SSM. I've been running SSM because it was going to be supercharged by the summer, but I need to thin the fleet before anything else is done.

1990 Miata:
134k
PW, PS, AC, VLSD
Soft and hardtop
Front and rear factory R-package spoilers

This past winter I replaced the 1.6L with a 1.8 from a 2000 Miata with 54k using the Flyin Miata swap kit. At the same time I also deleted the factory ecu and maf and replaced it with the Megasquirt system. It was then taken straight to the dyno in Virginia Beach and tuned. I have the dyno sheet avalible to serious parties

Mods:
1.8L
Megasquirt
Custom Intake (built while the car was on the dyno)
Koni's w/ Ground Control coilovers
FM high flow cat
Racing Beat car back exhaust
Racing Beat sway bars F&R
Hard Dog rollbar
15in Chaparal wheels with Hankook C71's

Results:
'05, '06, '09, '11 BRR regional champion
2005 SE Divisional winner (only divisional the car has ran)
Fasted Non-Posche at PCA autocross (and fasted car on street tires)
Too many BRR-SCCA, VMSC, PCA, and NASA local event wins to count.

$7,500

Took it out to am event this weekend with the PCA and first 3rd overall and 1st in the all non-Porsche class by a decent margin. The car is fast and ready to win!

Yeah whooped my arse by enough that's for sure! If somebody was looking for a fun multipurpose car (autox, track days) that has a great consumables budget and is well sorted this is the car. Now all you have to do is buy it before Scott kicks more butt in it and changes his mind ;)
