Ok so Philip (aka Fullup1) and I have a constant on going "fight" back and forth over whose car is cooler. And considering they are both 2000 2.5 RS's there's no reason to "take it to the streets" (plus he always pwns me in autox). So with 3 pictures of each car, here's what your voting on. . .

a) The Red, 2-door

b) The Blue, 4 door

Consider yourself lucky you don't hear the car alarm battle just ask Mike.

Tough poll. 8) I like the 2-door of Philip's and the sticky tires, but the blue of Tara's. I'm on the fence...

Well I vote for phillips, not only is it a 2-door and a hard to find marron/red color. But it also pwned at the Subaru Challenge.

Now if we were voting on driver looks, the poll wouldn't even be a contest due to the male to female ratio in the club...

Okay, I voted for the blue four door only because it looks terrible and you should sell it to me for a really low price  Okay seriously, my 7 year old daughter saw it in Salem and commented on how pretty the paint looked.

Never underestimate the Volvo! Back in it's prime, not even running at full boost, it was keeping pace with an obviously boosted Civic hatch, at an undisclosed location in Roanoke. 8)

I would have loved to been in that Civic, to hear what the guy was saying.

"How is that Volvo keeping up with me? I'm running 20lb. of boost with my APC stickers!"

That nasty boost problem that occurred when I replaced the engine has been fixed. It turns out I was running something like 12~15 degrees spark retard on the engine, so I could run great boost, but had no power anywhere else.

I've set the timing back to the factory setting, and now I've got awesome power down low (just like Volvo tractor engines are supposed to), but I can only run 3psi of boost.

Don't worry, the blow-off valve is still the loudest I've ever heard on a street car, even if it is only at 3psi.

For those interested, here's a video of the Volvo testing out an electronic boost controller that was built for a mechatronics project. The boost isn't perfectly controlled, but that a problem for another day. And this video was taken before the ignition retard was fixed. Enjoy.

The top number is manifold absolute pressure in psi.

The bottom number is the boost pressure setting in absolute pressure, also psi.

We thought about doing something to just show gauge pressure, but eh, whatever.

What's limiting your boost ? Do you keep getting "Danger to manifold" messages ? :)

Yeah, I've gotten the danger message a bunch of times, and I've lost some floorboard bolts in the process, but the floorboard is still intact.

The race (poll) is tight with the Red maintaining a slight advantage.

Sorry Tara, I had to vote for the Red due to my past racing experiences with the color red. Not to mention my future race privileges may depend on my answer....

I heard a nasty rumor that the Volvo may be for sale....say it ain't so. :(

Yeah, I'm sad to make the decision, but the whole point of the getting the Volvo was because I had no autocross vehicle. That "position" has been filled by a much more capable vehicle, so now the Volvo just gets neglected.

I'm selling it to a guy from the Turbobricks forum, so hopefully he'll have enough respect for Volvos that he'll get it running like it should.

Turbo Neon? Bring it on.

If I can find a donor car, we will do the Turbo thing. I am up for a co-drive for any class and I hope to one day bring A neon of my own to compete. For now, I am at the mercy of tire warmer/co-driver. I am looking forward to next season.

Lynn's Neon = Donor Car

As long as I'm around there will always be a car to co-drive.

Just pretend your driving STS, and have to drive that much better to be just as good as GS (which i've managed to fail miserably at so far hahaha) and maybe some more seconds will magically disappear

I had to vote for the Tara's car - I'll admit it, I'm a little biased to Blue Ridge Pearl, even though I love the red too.

Maybe I can get in on the war too?

I'll put in a vote for Philip's being the loudest 2.5RS in the BRR. Although I haven't heard Cliff's yet. I remember a little sound when Evan used to drive it at Triad events, but we'll see come L'burg. 8)

Also, as of yesterday, the Acura is flowing freely now. Probably not quite as nasty as the 2.5RS uncorked, but still pretty nice.

Ok, I was just humiliated in my own garage while comparing exhaust notes on the Acura and Philip's 2.5RS. I'm sure Philip will post the video shortly. He's MUCH louder at 2k RPM, than I am at WOT. I am not worthy. :P
