Rockingham Racing Report

Post by aged racer »

I am rather tardily reporting a successful weekend at Rockingham last month for the March Memories SARRC/ CCPS/ ECR. Drew had a good run in the SARRC sprint race to get his first race in on his Novice Permit. He finished first in SSC in the old Protege (alas the only entrant) but split a pair of SSB Mini Coopers so I call it a podium. Denton Staley and a previously well known local racer won the ECR (this time with another in the class). Denton also had a successful solo run in the CCPS event.

There was a decent turnout, but not what the same weekend would draw at VIR. Long story there, but racing is racing, ya run where ya can. The Rock is still fun, pretty much the same as when I ran there in 1985 except the garage is much nicer. If you'd like to try an oval I recommend it.

Next up for ST3 Racing will be the ECR at CMP/ Kershaw Memorial Day weekend. Meanwhile the Spec Miata kit has arrived for the old SSB car- we are planning to let Drew debut that later this summer.
