Spec Miata drivers

Tires are once again an issue for the mid-year meeting. While it seems that most drivers as happy with Toyos, there is always the vocal minority. Most of those get support from other tire companies.

One of the requests is for a longer wearing tire for long enduros like the 12 hours of Sebring or the Charge of the Headlight Brigade. These events are often sponsored by other tire companies.

Any comments? My plan (based on past feedback) is to vote to maintain the spec tire rule matching the national rule. If a suitable rule can be formulated for the enduros, I will consider supporting it. This will not apply to any divisional points events.

I am not a Spec Miata racer but I am building one and have beening doing HPDE'S with the Spec tire, and I thnk it's a great tire and it wears forever. For enduro's an interesting idea might be to allow the drivers to run the other tires especially if it's a non-divisional points event

Glen, our SSB to Spec Miata conversion is almost done. I'm in favor of staus quo, spec tire rules matching National rules.

Done played that game running Nationals, and unless you're one of the (few) top guys the spec tire/ level playing field is better for us great unwashed.
