Dyno in BRR Area

Post by tac911t »

What shops in the Lynchburg/Roanoke area have a chassis dyno for rent?
I am looking for some base lines for my new race motor, and to perform some timing/fuel tuning. Do all, or most dyno shops have a wide band O2 to be used for tuning?

Dryft Motorsports in Harrisonburg has one. Mention that I sent you and they'll probably hook you up a little.

There's also Coletrane in Pulaski, VA. This is where some of the real hardcore power guys from CCVT go to tune their cars. I've never been, but he'll definitely know Jeff Taylor with the turbo V8 240sx if you mention him

Steve,

If you want to go on the same day that I do, I will let you know when I plan to go. At this time, I still need to get the motor in the car, so it probably will be the first or second weekend in February. Their website says that they are open on Sundays (probably by appointment).

Sounds good. I have my suspension off right now while I get ready for Dixie. Let me know when your going, if I have it back together I would like to go. I was thinking of the one at Westlake. It is much closer, but I will need to go by and see what they charge and what hours are available.

I go to performanceautosport.com They are in Richmond. Primarily a mustang shop, they also do other cars. They mainly do diablo predator and sct custom tunes. Prices are listed on their website. They have many years of experience and do a lot of open track events and driving schools.

...interesting...when did that happen? I'd have thought word of that would have spread to CCVT forums as both of the head guys went there...maybe I missed something :(

Re: Dyno in BRR Area

I went to DynoTest in Danville today, and used their Dyno to tune the race motor. From the baseline of where we started,
82 hp, 82 lbs torque, we ended up with 100 hp, and 119 lbs torque. All from changing the fuel pressure and advancing the timing. Over the past few weeks I removed the factory vacuum fuel pressure regulator, and added an aftermarket one, and replaced the fuel pump with a high pressure one. This provided me with fuel pressure higher than the max 38 psi of the factory pump and regulator.

At least your torque curve is rather linear from 2300-4500ish. Not to bad, what car is this in?

That's a pretty significant change Todd - 22% increase in hp, 45% increase in torque! Should feel like a completely new car at the track.

Enjoy! 8)

I hope it is a different car, I have the engine builders son (Volvo), and a red 320I to beat on Sunday!!
I have been able to qualify in front of the BMW, but have always finished behind him.
