The awards banquet reservation info will be coming out very soon. Along with the reservation form will be a ballot for the election of officers for 2011. Two director positions are open this year. One very qualified candidate has stepped up, but that still leaves another director needed to fill the board of directors. If you are interested/willing to serve a two-year term, please contact me to have your name included on the ballot. It is very important to keep bringing new members onto the board, to encourage new ideas, a fresh viewpoint in the planning process, etc. If you are willing to help, now is the time to step up. Email your name to me at janemcombs@gmail.com

Also on the ballot will be four categories of awards:

Race Driver, Solo Driver, Worker, and Sportsmanship

Be thinking about the members you have knowledge of who might be candidates for one of these awards.

If the mail is late or you have a hard time making a choice, you'll be able to email your votes to me. Instructions will be on the ballot for using snail mail or email.

I'm gonna be a little vocal about who I'm voting for in terms of Sportsmanship...
Scott Krzastek. I know, "Duh Dave he's one of your best friends!" but it's more than that actually.

On the Wednesday of before Event #1 last year I discovered a growing coolant puddle under the miata before work and realized that not only was my waterpump done, but that I was probably out for the event I had been looking forward to soo much and in the red in terms of points right off the bat. All the work I did to the car over spring break was about to come to nothing for the first event.

I called Scott to let him know and ask for a co-drive and it turns out he was taking his wife's car (also a 1.8NA) to get it's waterpump fixed the next day. He not only gave me his timeslot at the shop (I was working and going to school) but let me use his waterpump/timing belt kit provided I order him a new one (which I did). I dropped my car off the next day at the shop and Scott even gave me a ride home. The car was finished Friday night and propelled me to a first place finish and first ever win against Scott. In a points battle that was decided by 1pt (less than 6 thousandths of a second in terms of time) without him I would have been short at least 4 points.

When I first started autocrossing he was there to twist my arm and persuade me into making events turning my "two event per year" attendance record into being one of the "regulars" and he's always been there to coach my driving and help fix and modify the car.

As many of you know Scott's one of those guys who constantly welcomes co-drives, and as Tom found out when his Morgan broke, is willing to toss you the keys so you can finish your runs. He's lent people storage space to hide broken cars and loaned out the use of his trailer as well.

Sorry for the long post, just had to get that out.

Good evening everyone,

I am looking forward to see you all at the banquet. I just wanted to ask if there is any special dress code or if it is casual.

Thank you in advance and see you soon!

Not yet, figure on either end of Jan or early Feb.

No news yet? If there's trouble getting a venue I'm sure we can use Macado's

My mistake, Anthony. The board agreed on Sat., Feb. 4, 2012, assuming the venue chosen would be able to give us that date. Since a final choice of venue has not happened yet, I shouldn't have announced the date as definite. As soon as Glen has finalized arrangements, there will be another post here, and also a flyer in the mail.

Sorry for the confusion.
