Results from yesterday's kart outing at VIR have been posted under the Results pylon.

Thanks to Lynn for getting them to me.

You will need to identify the number of the kart ..

I was driving the #2 kart in both heavy races
Elizabeth was driving the #2 in the light races.

I was in #4 the first heavy race, #6 in the second heavy race. That course needs a flag station at the top of the hill before the carousel, but otherwise it was great! We should do that again some time...

I was in the heavy weight class and was driving the # 3 kart first race... Finished 1st. Then for the second race I was in the # 10 kart and finished 3rd.

Fun Fun Fun.
First race I forgot what kart I was in the heavies but I dropped two wheels off and was forced to the pits for the 5 minute BS penalty so that result was kinda tossed.
Second race I was in #12 and finished second to Ray. Set fastest lap of that race.
Great fun and a decent arm workout. Everybody hit those pushups and barbells to get ready for when we do it again!

Did you try to pass Ray at all? That guy doesn't give an inch :) As for my physical condition, I was fine until I had a kart that would pull to the left all of the time. Made the infield sweeper going to the esses really easy though.

I have an idea for next time to help level the field a bit since clearly each kart has different speed potential:

Everyone pick a kart and run the first race.

Between the races, sort the results from fastest lap time to slowest. For the second race, the driver with the slowest lap time in the first race gets the kart that set the fastest time, and so on down the line.

Run second race.

Add each driver's finishing positions to determine their overall finishing order. Lowest total wins. In the event of a tie, add the fastest laps for each driver together. Lowest time wins.

Sounds complex, but could be done in five minutes on paper.

I was in kart #4 the first race and kart #6 the second race of the lightweights. Finished first both races but Jarrett Overstreet gave me a good fight the second race. Also not to brag but during the first race I set the new lap record at a 45.08

Awesome day let's do it again

Just out of curiosity, what was the weight cut-off for the light and heavy class? I'm thinking I'm borderline, and if so, will try to remain at the light end of the heavy class for next time. 8)

About 190 was the cut-off, but its not like we used a scale...

That leaves me at the high-end of the light class, and chasing Steffen around the track. :P

Maybe before the next karting event, I pack on about 5-10lb. to get into the heavies. 8)

OK so I looked at my video. I raced you hard and didn't give you any more room than I had to, but I thought I raced clean. That said I will admit to punting Alan out of the way when I lapped him. I'm not proud of that, but like they say in NASCAR, "it was just one of them racin' deals"

I always give the faster car behind u nudge. Get out of tdhe way. If they don't move it gets slightly ugly

You have video? Youtube? :)

BTW, never said you didn't give room, and I am grateful that you gave plenty. Its just that when I lost momentum by taking a bad line during the pass you were always right there to capitalize, so I'd get stuck behind again. No big deal, I just need to learn how to keep speed up to prevent the "up-and-under". I was trying very hard to not run you off of the road around the carousel, and hope that I didn't.

Expect a call from Helton...and a $100,000 fine for racing too aggressively..its the Nascar way of eliminating completion from the sport.

Oh sheeze Louise.... that didn't help any! I've been outta the game since '99, been having the "need for speed", and watching that sure didn't help. I kept comparing lines to turns at Summit and Roebling mostly. I gotta get back in the driver's seat...
