License plates
How many here would be interested in trying to get an SCCA license plate issued in VA. One with the SCCA cog and wheel on it? it would be at a cost of $10 per plate, and the $10 fee if it's personalized, and just like existing specialty plates, this fee would be annual. Here's the kicker, we'd need 250 orders before it'd be accepted, so we'd have to coordinate with either SCCA's national staff, or with the surrounding regions to get enough pre-orders together to get approved through VDOT.
Hey, what does this thing do *zap* oww,.... so that's what it does!

Re: License plates
I think it would be cool and would be up for getting one. I remember many years ago Virginia was getting teased for only having a choice of two plates. We sure took care of that! Ha ha. Why not add one more?

Re: License plates
I looked at this a few years ago. I think the number of plates required was higher then. Didn't get much interest from other regions. The RE of Old Dominion at the time had worked on getting a Corvette Club plate and ran into significant problems getting people to sign up for it.
If it's doable I think it's a great idea. I would be interested in getting one.

Re: License plates
I'd be down for that too! My drab license plate could use some flavor!

Re: License plates

Re: License plates
I'm in for (3), but it will be hard for a smaller Region (even with ODR) to make that number.
If we bring in the DC Region we could get there- I suggest a posting on their forum, or a RE to RE contact (RE contact info is available on the SCCA website).
However, it's a bit more complicated than just finding the right number of people. Here are the rules:
http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/pdf/ ... pecial.pdf
We need a sponsoring organization (SO), and DMV has to have the $ up front, meaning all interested parties would need to "lodge" their $10/ per with said sponsoring organization. (That was one of the stoppers before). With the SCCA's interest in logo's and branding, they would be the logical SO. Not sure who to contact, but a good start would be Derrick Frakes, the Manager of Member Services.
