WTB: Miata

Going to the dark side. Looking for a used miata in decent condition that can be had for cheap. Under 2K.

Or at least some reccomendations on where to look for them.

I had luck on craigslist! Price may be tougher to find since it is "top down" season.

*REALLY* bad time to be looking for a Miata. It's the prime top down season so everyone wants top dollar for them (although I prefer early spring and fall). You will be hard pressed to find one in good shape for 2k, even in the winter, prices have really gone up on them. Cars that need major work now seem to start around 2k.

Scott,
What would be a good expectation of what I should pay for a miata in decent shape?

Right now, you would be hard pressed to find one in good shape with a asking price < $4500. That being said, for a good stock, basic Miata, $3000 should be reasonable.

I just paid $1500 for my 94 Maita M edition. Runs fine but everything else is rough. All the clean one's I found I felt were too high.

I paid $1200 for my two cars...parted out the '95 and got the price of the '90 down to $500. Granted, it's rough, but all it needed was a clutch to pass inspection.
