TSIA...
Customer at work needs a motor for her '90/'91 Miata, had a large coolant leak and overheated the original motor bad enough to melt the plastic ends on the spark plug boots. OUCH!
We got it running, but it smokes like a freight train. Anyways, good chance for someone to unload a stock motor after a 1.8L upgrade...
Call me at Reed's Auto, 343-3359 and ask for John, I'm the only John there.

Get one that has a large nose crank to avoid issues with sharing the crank key. This would be 92-93.

yeah, same exact motor, but no issue with the crank key walking out. If you can find it, do a 92-93 motor.

I'm not a Miata guru, but I believe David Lingenfelter just swapped a 1.8 into his Miata, so he may have a 1.6 available.

I'll drive anything made by GM. Yes, there's something wrong with me.

If i recall, his was being taken out because it was not the best running motor in a miata.

Dave's old motor is a 1.8 also.
